My sister and I needed somewhere in Penryn to stay for a week whilst sorting out family matters. So, we had not come for sea, sun and sand, but more looking for a comfortable refuge to retreat to at the end of the day. Sorgente couldn’t have been better at providing this; in spadefuls. It is the most delightful and tastefully renovated cottage. It retains old world charm with modern day comforts. The cottage was well equipped and everything, including all the linens and towels, were of a very high standard. Both bedrooms are spacious and we had plenty of room to hang clothes, with plenty of drawer spaces too. It also has a superb bathroom with all modern/new fittings. The vast overhead shower was divine. Also all the little goodies which included soaps and bath gels. Of an evening it was very cosy. We only used the CD player, but you could bring your iPod, DVDs as well and of course there is a TV. The free WiFi was a real bonus and made it very easy for us to carry out research and find local services. The communications and ease of booking and all the information provided by the owner was also top notch. The online description of the cottage is perfectly correct and the photography is truly representative of the accommodation. As we were not on a holiday we didn’t visit local attractions – but of course one absolute must, if you enjoy good food, is a visit to Ricky Stein’s restaurant and take away near the Maritime Museum in Falmouth. The most sumptious dinner was greatly enjoyed and appreciated. We can highly recommend this cottage. Jane & Cherry – March 2016
Natural light
Overall we have tried to let as much natural light into the property, to give a fresh contemporary feel whilst not losing focus on its traditional features, character and charm with its thick stone walls and traditional sliding sash windows (double-glazed).
The spacious, open-plan living room has a wood-burning stove and leads to the fully equipped kitchen, which also serves as a dining area. It is well lit by the large patio windows that lead directly into the enclosed, garden garden… an ideal place for a morning coffee or to read the newspaper, but also a real sun trap from midday to the afternoon in the height of summer.
Bedrooms and bathroom
On the upper floor there is one double and one twin room, which offer a high level of comfort with quality mattresses and bed linen. A luxurious Italian-style bathroom with large bath, rain shower and bidet is the centrepiece of the accommodation on the second floor and is located between the two bedrooms. The Sorgente Holiday Cottage is ideal for families, but also for couples who want to holiday all year round.
Filtered fresh air
The heat recovery system helps to achieve low energy consumption targets and keeps the home fresh and dry by removing condensation and dust – ideal for people with allergies such as asthma or hay fever. It also prevents fogged up mirrors in the bathroom. We are pleased to offer self-catering accommodation that is more suitable for asthmatics and allergy sufferers and therefore have a strict no smoking and no pets policy. Sorgente does not ‘suffer’ from damp like so many traditional granite cottages in Cornwall. This is due to the heat recovery system, so there is no need to ‘air’ the cottage by leaving the windows open and losing heat.
An excellent touring base
Secluded beaches and picturesque fishing villages of the Roseland Peninsula, the Lizard Peninsula and the famous Eden Project are within easy reach.
