We added the luxury of a Villavent heat recovery system in the cottage which aims to meet targets of low energy consumption but also importantly keeps the home fresh and dry removing condensation and dust, ideal for those whose may have an allergy such as asthma. The system uses filters which are cleaned or replaced twice a year through which all incoming air and recycled air passes through. It automatically detects when there is steam in the bathroom and the Kitchen and continues to replenish the air until all damp has cleared. The renewed air, combined with fresh outdoor air, is then fed back into the double and twin bedroom. No more persistent condensation on the windows or steamy mirrors!
In the bedrooms you may notice the air flow only when someone uses the bathroom or kitchen. It automatically goes into high mode for a short time to clear the damp air. You may also set this to high manually whilst taking a shower. You can rest assured that it is clean healthy air which is circulated 24 hours a day, no need to sleep with the windows open anymore!
We also minimize our guests exposure to allergens by reducing use of carpets or other furnishings that gather dust, having a no-pets, no-smoking policy. Due to the heat recovery system, windows do not need to be opened for the flow of fresh air and this is especially important at times of high pollen count. The vacuum cleaner provided also uses a HEPA filter and of course the property is meticulously cleaned between bookings.
